She said she would buy the flowers herself (2018)

15 min

Performed at SOZO vim, Kassel (DE)

Concept: Salla Talvikki Nieminen

Performance: Barbara England

Mentoring: João Fiadeiro

Photos: Karl-Heinz Mierke

Description:

A woman, a bouquet of flowers, a room that is not a room of her own. Attempts at leaving, fleeing and receding; drifting somewhere, stumbling nowhere and lingering in between places.

She said she would buy the flowers herself is a performance about a blinding wish for (not) being seen.

“So will you please say Hello!
To the folks that I know
Tell them I won't be long
They'll be happy to know
That as you saw me go
I was singing this song”

(Vera Lynn: We'll Meet Again)
